Dear Educator:

The Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators (SCCABE) is hosting its 23rd Annual Recognition Ceremony for African-American students and community leaders this spring. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Parkside Hall in Downtown San Jose. We are requesting your assistance in identifying deserving students and community members. Superintendents and administrators, please share this information with your staff

The Alliance will recognize students promoting/graduating from elementary, middle and high school. Students must have at least a 2.5 g.p.a to qualify for most categories (except where noted, see award descriptions for details) and can be considered in the following award categories.

This annual event is held to encourage student achievement, affirm the dignity of African-American students and to recognize the support of family and community in the lives of our children.

In addition to giving recognition to students, we will also honor African-American community leaders with the LaVerne Owens Community Service Award and the Hank Hutchins Award. The criterion for each Adult Award can be accessed via the link (here)

Please help us in identifying and recognizing these deserving individuals. All nominations must be received by March 30, 2012. Please call (408) 298-9333 if you have questions and an Alliance member will return your call. You may also email Carolyn Johnson, carolynjohnson4487@att.net. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile and inspiring event.

Sincerely,

Leon Beauchman
President
